Seeing as Ringo has recently released a new album earlier this year called Long Long Road (his twenty-second overall, believe it or not), I figure I'd post something that's been on the backburner for some time. It's not something I've seen many people do; resequencings of any of Ringo's solo albums. I've done one in the past called It Beats Sleep that replaces both Ringo the 4th and Bad Boy, and the following five more or less follow the same pattern. These were the ones that stood out to me the most when it came to quantity of available material. I've also done one for Time Takes Time, which you can see here; it was originally written for this post, but I moved it to the Earth-130 timeline instead. Of course, it can still work in any alternate universe.
Side A (22:20)
1. Attention - 3:20
2. Red and Black Blues - 3:20
3. Private Property - 2:44
4. Sure to Fall - 3:42
5. You've Got a Nice Way - 3:33
6. You Can't Fight Lightning - 5:41
Side B (23:29)
7. Wrack My Brain - 2:21
8. Drumming is My Madness - 3:29
9. Wake Up - 3:45
10. Dead Giveaway - 4:28
11. You Belong to Me - 2:09
12. Brandy - 4:08
13. Stop and Take the Time to Smell the Roses - 3:09
The sessions for Stop and Smell the Roses were quite productive, and at one point, it was going to be called Can't Fight Lightning, before the track listing was re-arranged. I've used the original track listing as a basis for my resequencing, with the first side featuring Paul McCartney and Stephen Stills, and the second side featuring George Harrison, Harry Nilsson and Ronnie Wood. I dropped the re-recording of "Back Off Boogaloo" as I feel that it's better suited for B-side material. This, I feel, is now a picture that is both cohesive and gives a more complete picture of what was going on with Ringo in the studio during the early 1980s.
Side A (24:03)
1. One - 3:02
2. What in the World - 3:29
3. Mindfield - 4:06
4. King of Broken Hearts - 4:44
5. Mr. Double-It-Up - 4:00
6. Vertical Man - 4:42
Side B (24:26)
7. Everyday (Everyway) - 4:09
8. La De Da - 5:41
9. Without Understanding - 4:22
10. I'll Be Fine Anywhere - 3:39
11. Good News - 3:11
12. I'm Yours - 3:24
Vertical Man was Ringo's first album following the Beatles' Anthology, and it has just as much fine moments as it does a few clunkers. The tracks I ended up dropping were Ringo's re-recording of "Love Me Do", "Drift Away", "I Was Walkin'" and "Puppet", and in their place, the bonus tracks, "Mr. Double-It-Up", "Everyday" and "Good News". Of course, your mileage may vary.
Side A (18:36)
1. Fill in the Blanks - 3:14
2. The Other Side of Liverpool - 3:23
3. Think It Over - 1:48
4. Samba - 2:48
5. Peace Dream - 3:34
6. Time - 3:49
Side B (19:50)
7. Wings - 3:31
8. Mystery of the Night - 4:05
9. Wonderful - 3:47
10. Can't Do It Wrong - 3:45
11. Walk with You - 4:42
Y Not and Ringo 2012 both mark the beginning of the 2010s for Ringo, and there's quite a fair amount of chaff between the two, and the former has some questionable track placements. "Who's Your Daddy?" with Joss Stone is not a great closer, and it would have fit much better on her Colour Me Free! album. And then Ringo 2012 reuses many of the same ideas from Y Not, albeit somehow less interesting despite only being less than half an hour long. So, I ended up taking out the weakest stuff from Y Not and replaced it with the best stuff from Ringo 2012, including the re-recording of "Wings", and did a bit of reshuffling. "Walk with You" is now the closing track, and the two collabs with Paul have more breathing room between them. I adopted the new title, Another #11, from a working title for Ringo 2012, in which at one point, was going to be called Another #9.
Side A (17:36)
1. Let's Change the World - 4:14
2. Zoom In Zoom Out - 3:57
3. See You Later, Alligator - 2:49
4. Teach Me to Tango - 3:07
5. Just That Way - 3:29
Side B (17:49)
6. Waiting for the Tide to Turn - 3:54
7. Coming Undone - 3:20
8. Not Enough Love in the World - 4:16
9. Rock Around the Clock - 2:14
10. Here's to the Nights - 4:05
Essentially, this is a straight-forward compilation of all the songs from Zoom In and Change the World, with the addition of "See You Later, Alligator" from a charity album. Not much else to say here.
Side A (18:23)
1. Rewind Forward - 3:31
2. February Sky - 3:19
3. World Go Round - 4:12
4. Feeling the Sunlight - 3:06
5. Let's Be Friends - 4:15
Side B (19:39)
6. Adeline - 2:43
7. Shadows on the Wall - 3:30
8. Free Your Soul - 5:28
9. Crooked Boy - 3:14
10. Miss Jean - 4:44
Again, I've compiled all songs from the 2022-2024 extended plays onto a single album. Two songs were dropped - "Everyone and Everything" from EP3 and "Gonna Need Someone" from Crooked Boy - as I wanted to avoid having too many Linda Perry songs on there.
